Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on the 24th of August 1972 on the 24th of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged by her aunt Denise at the age of a little girl. She was a night nurse to allow her mother the space she required during her day time to enjoy the pleasures of literature, art as well as theatre. DuVernay loved the film West Side Story, which she showed her. DuVernay learnt by doing the art of being a good vehicle for activism. DuVernay used her summers in Alabama to inspire her next film, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the year 1990, DuVernay was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. DuVernay enrolled at the University of California Los Angeles after graduating, where she earned degrees in English and African American Studies. As in school, DuVernay began to consider producing for the broadcast media. She began her career as an assistant to CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being assigned to sit at the house of a member of the jury as well as look through their trash. Her tasks left her disappointed in journalism, so she decided to shift her focus towards the industry of public relations. DuVernay was offered a job straight from college, working as a publicist in the young age of a studio. She was promoted to the position and set up her own public relations company called The DuVernay Agency in 1999. Apart from PR, the agency developed several lifestyle websites such as Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful.
